A Summer Favourite | Cozy At-Home Newborn Photos in Toronto
There’s something so special about photographing a family right where life is unfolding — no rush, no pressure, just the natural rhythm of a slow morning at home. Baby Ellie’s newborn session in Toronto began inside, in the calm of her nursery, with soft light filling the room and her parents taking their time settling in with her.
Their sweet Boston terrier even wandered in for a frame or two, checking in on his newest little family member.
Those pauses — rocking, feeding, resetting — ended up being some of my favourite moments. They gave us room to slow down and document the little things: the way she curled into her parents, the quiet looks they shared, the familiarity of their home surrounding them.
We explored their home as the morning went on — the nursery, the living room, the kitchen. The kind of everyday spaces that tell a family’s story better than anything styled ever could. It felt effortless to photograph them there, doing the things they naturally do, in the place they love most.
One of the images from this session was recently published in the Fall edition of The Beloved Journal, which feels fitting because so much about this morning felt like something worth remembering, not just beautiful but meaningful.
Once Ellie was settled and the morning warmed up, we wandered into the garden. It’s a space they love, and it felt like the perfect extension of their story — calm, green, and full of that soft summer light that makes everything feel a little extra magical.
Baby Ellie is already so deeply loved, and being welcomed into their home to document these early days was such a joy.
