“We really loved our experience working with Ashley for our maternity photos! She was very easy to work with, always quick to respond to any questions we had, and allowed us to show her inspiration photos to ensure she understood exactly what we were looking for.

During the shoot she made us feel very comfortable, and had great suggestions for how we should interact with each other. She turned around the photos very quickly, and we were very happy with the end result. We definitely wouldn't hesitate to work with her again”

MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ

When is the best time to book a maternity session?

Most clients book between 28–34 weeks, when the bump is nicely visible but you still feel comfortable moving around. That said, if you’re feeling well, we can create beautiful images any time right up to your due date.

Where do maternity sessions take place?

I photograph maternity sessions at home, outdoors, or in a natural light studio. In Durham Region & Toronto, some favourites include open fields, quiet shorelines, and parks with soft, golden light.

Can my partner or children be included?

Absolutely — maternity sessions are about your story as a family. Whether it’s just the two of you or you’re including little ones, we’ll focus on connection and emotion over stiff poses.

What should I wear for a maternity photoshoot?

I’ll share a style guide before your session. Neutral tones, soft fabrics, and flowy dresses photograph beautifully, but if bold colours or statement pieces feel more like you, we’ll make them work in a way that still fits the timeless feel of your gallery. Some clients love an undressed and understated look with their belly showing, while others lean into a dramatic, editorial style — I always base the vibe on how you feel your best.

What if the weather doesn’t cooperate for an outdoor shoot?

If it’s overcast, we’ll often still go ahead — soft light is lovely for maternity portraits. In case of rain or extreme wind, we can reschedule or move the session indoors.

How far in advance should I book?

Many clients book in the second trimester to secure a date, especially for weekends. If you’re later in your pregnancy and I have an opening, I’m always happy to fit you in.

Can we incorporate activities or personal touches into the session?

Yes — bringing in meaningful activities, locations, or details makes your session uniquely yours. This might be making tea together in your kitchen, walking your favourite trail, reading in the nursery, or visiting the spot where you had your first date. These small moments help tell your story in a way that feels natural and personal.
